ABSTRACT The alumino-silicates ceramics obtained from clay and other components have a wide application in various engineering areas. Alunin-silica-based ceramics are obtained in various ways in a temperature range of 800-1000ºC. The objective of this work is the development of synthesis of ceramic materials with energy and water savings from the use of large scale waste such as glass and biosolids. An energy saving is expected by means of the reduction of sintering temperature of the ceramic that is reached by means of fusible additives of silicate-glass of low melting point that serves as a union of the granules of meta-kaolinite or sillimanite, which are formed when the mineral clay disintegrates. Ceramic materials (bricks) based on red clay, glass and tezontle were developed. The idea of the use of these components is due to the reduction of the sintering temperature of the clay, since the glass has a low melting point in a range of (700 - 800) ºC and the tezontle is a combination of different silicates multicomponent. When mixing them and giving a thermal treatment a eutectic point is generated, and in this way it manages to reduce the sintering temperature of the bricks in a range of (800- 900) ºC. For the plastic molding of the mixtures, biosolids (wet sludge) were used as a substitute for water, this waste is generated in wastewater treatment plants, which contain up to 80% water. Its introduction leads to the reduction of water consumption in the production of large-scale ceramic bricks and ensures the neutralization of biosolids. In this way generate a saving of water. The sintering of the mixtures was carried out in an atmosphere of air and argon, obtaining ceramic materials with different porosity and strength, as well as carbonized ceramics with adsorption properties. With applications in the construction and treatment of textile effluents. Thus, an industrial climbing of ceramic bricks will also be sintered.
