WASSILA AJBAR

The purpose of this work is to present the design, construction and modeling of a process heat generation system based on Parabolic Trough Solar Concentrators (PTCs) using three points: a) the SolidWorks and AutoCAD Softwares to carry out the design, b) the analysis of ray traces in Tonatiuh software to corroborate that the design of the PTC is correct and guarantee that the reflected irradiance affects the proposed receiver tube, finally, c) a mathematical model was developed in MATLAB based on the governing equations that intervene in heat transfer processes to estimate the thermal efficiency of the PTC, as well as to predict the output temperature of the working fluid and find the optimal handling of the system varying the variables of the model. This research work focuses on finding the right conditions for the improvement of the thermal efficiency of the PTC. This, from the design of a new parabolic trough solar collector inclined at an angle of 21 °, an opening angle of 90° and the incorporation of a solar tracking system in order to increase the uptake of direct solar radiation and obtain an average temperature of the working fluid to replace this type of thermal energy in the water heating of the industrial process. According to the results obtained with the analysis of ray traces and with the position of the placement of the absorber tube in the simulation, it is the position in which we have in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) it will be achieved that all the rays affect him. This guarantees that there will be a correct interception of all the radiation reflected by the concentrator. The behavior of the actual water temperature at the outlet of the absorber tube for the different flows analyzed in this theoretical study shows that the increase in flow generates lower temperatures of the fluid. This is because the ratio of the heat flow delivered to the CCP to the mass flow is much lower as the mass flow increases. Likewise, it was observed that the increase of the flow rate leads to an increase in the thermal efficiency but the variation of the flow has no effect on the optical efficiency. The thermal efficiency values obtained for flows 1 and 2 l / min were almost similar; later it is observed that the efficiency is increased by the increase of the flow in a transitory state, in this case of 3 l / min. Finally, it was observed that the thermal efficiency for flows 6 and 7 l / min is constant with respect to the two previous flows. The maximum thermal efficiency that the system can achieve under the proposed conditions is 72%. The model also shows that the increase in the initial temperature of the fluid produces a lower exit temperature due to IV the maximization of thermal losses due to a greater gradient between the initial temperature and the ambient temperature and with the end a very significant decrease in the efficiency thermal. The influence of the variation of the wind speed was evaluated and it is observed that according to the increase of the wind speed, the temperature of the fluid is getting smaller. Because of this, it is advisable to implement the evacuated glass cover as it minimizes convective losses, making them almost nil among themselves. The design of the CCP in SolidWorks helps optimize both time and cost. Likewise, the simulation of the rays in Tonatiuh helps you to place the absorber tube and find the optimum inclination of the collector installation.
