ABSTRACT The papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a fruit tree very accepted in the export market for generating high profitability. In Mexico it is grown in tropical and subtropical zones. The search for alternatives to control pests and diseases in the crop has become an imperative necessity, mainly in the control of the Annular Spot Virus of papaya (PRSV-P), being the main limitation of production in Mexico and the world, therefore, in this research the efficacy of a new viral inhibitor (Inhibitovir) as an alternative to PRSV control was evaluated, compared to another commercial antiviral (Virus Stop), evaluating the response of the established papaya plants, by means of preventive applications every two weeks (3 ml.l-1) and control dose (6 ml.l-1) under field conditions, the effect of the viral inhibitors on the physicochemical characteristics and post-harvest quality of the papaya fruits at consumption maturity was also evaluated. , which were: weight of the fruit, color of the epicarp and pulp, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, total phenols, total flavonoids, antioxidant activity (ABTS, DPPH, FRAP) and total sugars. With the use of Inhibitovir® it was possible to prevent affectations produced by PRSV, with a satisfactory phytosanitary state of the plantation, until the 5th. month after the transplant, enough time for the plantation to obtain a high potential, however the application of the viral inhibitors in papaya plants had no significant effect on the incidence, severity and efficacy of the ring spot virus, as well as the physico-chemical quality of the papaya fruits evaluated.
