El arte de Vidal-Quadras en Cuernavaca: historia de un retrato

Se plantea el hallazgo artístico de una obra del destacado pintor catalán Alejo Vidal-Quadras en Cuernavaca, quien en 1959 realizó el retrato de la famosa cantante Gloria Lasso. Esta obra resulta significativa ya que permite conocer tanto al artista como a la modelo. Vidal-Quadras obtuvo reconocimiento mundial por sus pinturas de personajes célebres. El retrato de Lasso no sólo refleja su esencia y belleza física, también posee el aura de su tiempo, un valor simbólico invaluable. Actualmente se encuentra en posesión de su hija, María José Lasso. La obra del autor y la aquí revisada constituye un descubrimiento que enriquece el contexto artístico y cultural en Morelos, así como puentes de reflexión respecto a las artes visuales.

The artistic finding of a work by the prominent catalan painter Alejo Vidal-quadras, in Cuernavaca, who, in 1959, made the por-trait of the famous singer Gloria Lasso, is proposed. This work is significant since it allows us to get to know both the artist and the model. Vidal-Quadras gained worldwide recognition for his paintings of famous people. Lasso’s portrait not only reflects his essence and physical beauty, it also has the aura of his time of invaluable symbolic value. It is currently in the possession of his daughter María José Lasso. The author’s work and the one reviewed here constitute a discovery that enriches the artistic and cultural context in Morelos, as well as bridges for reflection regarding the visual arts.
