Diseño e implementación de un sistema de procesamiento digital de imágenes para mediciones cuantitativas en rostros, para el apoyo en la rehabilitación de pacientes con parálisis facial

La medición de la evolución de pacientes con parálisis facial, es muy importante para los especialistas que atienden este trauma, ya que el poder mostrar resultados favorables ayudan a demostrar a sus pacientes que van mejorando y con esto no deprimirse ya que la depresión podría ser una causa para retardar su evolución. En la rama de la medicina no hay aparato, metodología, o sistema que ayude a los especialistas a medir la evolución de pacientes con este trauma y mostrar resultados favorables es muy complicado, ya que lo hacen de manera cualitativa, es decir, de acuerdo a su percepción visual. En este trabajo de investigación se desarrolló una metodología y un sistema de procesamiento digital de imágenes, para la medición de pacientes con el trauma antes mencionado. El desarrollo de este trabajo comienza con el procesamiento digital de imágenes, donde se segmenta el rostro, es decir solo dejar la información que ocuparemos, seguido de la reconstrucción digital del rostro en base a la parte sin daño, detectar puntos en él y así poder determinar las distancias entre estos. Para comprobar que el sistema funciona correctamente se pidió apoyo de un terapeuta que atiende a estos pacientes. Con los resultados obtenidos se puede determinar que el sistema podría ser implementado a futuro.

The measurement of the evolution of patients with facial paralysis is very important for the specialists who attend this trauma, since being able to show favorable results help to show their patients that they are improving, and with this they do not get depressed since this could slow their evolution. In the field of medicine there is no apparatus, methodology, or system that helps specialists measure the evolution of patients with this trauma, and showing favorable results is very complicated since they do it qualitatively, that is, according to their visual perception. In this research work a methodology and a digital image processing system were developed for the measurement of patients with the trauma mentioned above. The development of this work begins in the digital image process where the face is segmented, that is, just leave the information that we will occupy, reconstruct it completely based on the part without damage, detect points in it, and thus be able to determine the distances between these. To verify that the system works correctly, support from a therapist who cares for these patients was requested. With results obtained it can be determined that the system can be implemented in some future.
