The Refrigerator was born to the human need to preserve food, ancient civilizations used refrigeration naturally, centuries ago it was known that low temperatures have the ability to protect food by keeping them Away from bacteria and other factors that may damage them; therefore, the ancestors always sought different ways of using the cold as a means of conservation. With the passage of time, countless experiments have been developed that have led to the development of cooling systems. From the Scottish physicist Williams Cullen who in 1755 conducted an experiment with diétil ether as coolant and a vacuum machine where it maintained a reduced pressure; And he managed to get a small amount of ice mechanically, until the year 1853 when American professor Alexander C. Twining invented and patented one of the first steam compression refrigeration machines. Steam compression systems soon became popular for their thermodynamic efficiency, despite, the fact that they used refrigerants such as ether, methyl ether, ammonia, which are harmful to the environment because when emitted to the environment they behave like greenhouse gases contributing to global warming. Plus, they consume electric power for their operation. To date, countless research work has been carried out to offer new alternatives in cooling systems, one of which is absorption cooling systems which use renewable energy sources, such as solar energy , biomass or geothermal; Even the residual energy as they require low-grade thermal energy for their operation. They Also use environmentally friendly refrigerants and do not contribute to global warming. This research project shows the design and construction of a simple effect absorption cooling system using the water-calcium chloride mixture, air cooled by natural convection, to carry out the project first He carried out the simulation of the system using the software EES that allowed to determine the values of thermodynamic properties, as well as the coefficient of V operation. Also, the SolidWorks software was used to carry out the design, and by means of correlations and formulations the dimensioning of the system was carried out. From the analysis carried out with the work mixture water-calcium chloride, it could be verified that the initial hypothesis was not successful, since a COP of 0.62 was obtained less than expected of 0.70; The working mix presents crystallization problems in the absorber at temperatures greater than 85 º C. In Addition to the heat exchangers of finned tubes present greater efficiency in the transfer of heat than the smooth tubes, for the case for the evaporator a transfer rate was obtained 8 times higher, while for the condenser and Absorber transfer rate 6.9 times higher.
