Representaciones de mujeres víctimas de violencia feminicida en un periódico de nota roja morelense

En este trabajo se presenta un análisis de la representación de las mujeres víctimas de violencia feminicida en la nota roja de un periódico de Morelos. El planteamiento de esta investigación surge de la revisión de la literatura actual sobre el feminicidio que lo ubica como un fenómeno grave que diariamente cobra la vida de más de siete mujeres, según datos del 2017 del Observatorio Ciudadano Nacional del Feminicidio. Además, está la preocupación por el papel que algunos de los medios de comunicación pueden tener cuando reportan los feminicidios y hacen de ellos notas triviales que contribuyen a la normalización social de estos eventos. Lo anterior hizo que se revisara cómo es que los medios difunden los asesinatos de estas mujeres y cuál es la perspectiva que promueven de las mujeres víctimas. Se delimitó sólo al periódico de nota roja por ser éste el medio de mayor venta y consumo en el estado de Morelos. Se planteó la hipótesis de que los medios contribuyen a legitimar, justificar y/o normalizar la violencia hacia las mujeres. La estrategia metodológica de la presente investigación se dividió en dos. Primero se hizo el análisis de los encabezados y las noticias sobre feminicidios y después de las imágenes que hacían referencia a este tema. Para cada unidad de estudio se utilizaron técnicas cualitativas diferentes tales como la Teoría Fundamentada y el Análisis de Contenido Visual basado en la propuesta teórica de Roland Barthes. De acuerdo a los resultados analizados, se confirma que sí hay elementos en las notas e imágenes del periódico analizado que contribuyen legitimar, justificar y/o normalizar la violencia hacia las mujeres.

This document presents an analysis of the representation of women victims of femicide in a sensationalist newspaper in Morelos, Mexico. The research reviews the current literature on feminicide, highlighting it as a serious phenomenon that daily takes the lives of at least seven women, according to 2017 data of the Observatorio Ciudadano Nacional del Feminicidio. The study also analyzes the role that some media can play by reporting feminicides in such a way as to trivialize the crime, contributing to the social normalization of these events. The present work analyzes only one “red note” or sensationalist newspaper given its large-scale sale and consumption in the state of Morelos. The hypothesis was confirmed that the media contributes to legitimizing, justifying and / or normalizing violence against women. The present research has two methodological strategies. Firstly, the analysis of the headlines and the news about femicides and secondly, the analysis of images that made reference to this topic. Different qualitative techniques such as Grounded Theory and Visual Content Analysis based on the theoretical proposal of Roland Barthes were used. According to the results analyzed, the research confirms that there are elements in the notes and images of the newspaper under study that promotes the legitimization, justification and/ or normalization of violence against women.
