PAWEL FRANCISZEK ANASZKIEWICZ GRACZYKOWSKA

Video installation, to a large extent, can be defined as a means of simultaneous video projections distributed in the space where its observer/listener/participant wanders. These aspects distance this type of artistic work both from installations made with objects and still images, as well as from single-channel cinema or video, projected on a single screen, recognizing that the specificity of a media language cannot be summed up in the description of its media. Based on the analysis of works by video installation artist Douglas Gordon, it is proposed that, just as the exploratory duration of video installations is determined by their observers/listeners, so are the spatial trajectories or points of view of their observation.
