ABSTRACT In the present work it has been possible to know more in detail the nanomaterials from their synthesis, characterization and their different applications, being of importance for this work the applications in agrobiology. It is of our interest to evaluate the effect of climate change on the vigor and development of corn seeds (Zea mays) hybrid "Albatros" (it is considered a hybrid because it presents homogeneity in its germination process and is considered the ideal model to measure the variables of interest for this study), in addition to evaluating the effect and interaction of AuNPs and MWCNT with the interest of generating a proposal for the use of nanomaterials in agrobiotechnology with bases based on clear evidence of the behavior between nanomaterial-soil-seed- seedling Seeds are among the organisms most vulnerable to the extreme temperatures predicted in certain models of global warming. The objective of this work is to examine the possibility of nanomaterial-assisted restoration of germination and vigor of heat-damaged hybrid maize (Zea mays "Albatros") seeds through a study of the percentage of germination and growth after a treatment of aging at high temperatures. The thermal treatment or dose of exposure to high temperatures was dry heat at 60, 65, 70 and 80°C, from 1 to 21 days of exposure. After treatment, the germination capacity of the seeds was evaluated. Seed germination percentage and seedling growth rates were studied in the presence/absence of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and our laboratory synthesized and characterized (SEM, DLS, FTIR, UV-Vis) MWCNT nanoparticles. gold (AuNPs). In general, the MWCNTs outperformed the AuNPs. The apparently erratic results of germination were rationalized from the point of view of the biomechanics of water ingress in seeds with heat-damaged seed coats. Ficksian diffusion calculations applied to the interstitial channels of the seed coat and cell wall showed that the former, but not the latter, was an effective barrier to MWCNT entry and that both readily allowed water ingress. For seeds exposed to long-duration heat exposure at 60ºC, the MWCNT treatments appear to catalyze seed and seedling recovery, promote biomass and root-to-shoot water transport, while the parabolic biomass trend for 40–60ºC, suggests opposing temperature-regulated factors that possibly involve reactive oxygen species. In summary, the growth indices of heat-damaged seeds show a strong non-monotonic dose dependence in which MWCNT significantly altered the response, catalyzing the recovery of the high-heat "dose" ensemble. These results are promising for the application of nanoagrobiotechnology in agriculture in the scenario of global warming.
