Estrategias de mejora del plan de manejo integral de residuos peligrosos biológicos infecciosos en el hospital regional de zona 5 del imss en el municipio de zacatepec, Morelos.

Resumen Con la realización de este trabajo se determinó la generación de RPBI, dentro del Hospital General de Zona No.5 en el municipio de Zacatepec, Morelos; así como, el cumplimiento de la NOM-087-SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002. A pesar de que existe normatividad en materia de RPBI, se pudiera no aplicar correctamente la Norma en comento; por lo que se determinó evaluar el conocimiento del personal involucrado en las diferentes etapas del manejo interno de RPBI, con el fin de proponer estrategias que permitan hacer eficiente su aplicación en el plan de manejo de estos residuos, en dicha institución. Se realizaron recorridos in situ con el fin de verificar el cumplimiento de la NOM-087- SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002, en cada una de las áreas del hospital y por cada etapa del manejo interno de RPBI (clasificación, recolección, transporte interno y almacén temporal); por otro lado, se solicitaron los manifiestos de entrega-recepción de RPBI, los cuales nos proporcionan el volumen de generación del año 2011 al 2018. Asimismo, se aplicó una encuesta que nos permitió explorar los conocimientos que el personal tiene frente al concepto, clasificación y manejo de RPBI. El Hospital General de Zona No.5 no implementa adecuadamente el cumplimiento de la NOM-087-SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002. De acuerdo al volumen de RPBI generados al mes; el Hospital General de Zona No.5 es un generador nivel III. Con la aplicación de la encuesta, se pudo observar un alto grado de conocimientos de dicha norma por parte del personal; sin embargo, las prácticas son deficientes frente al manejo de este tipo de residuos, esto implica que la Institución tiene la necesidad de mejorar los programas de educación y capacitación, de igual forma, es necesario que se supervise de manera regular el manejo adecuado de los RPBI con el fin de minimizar el riesgo de diseminación de algún agente patógeno. Se propone implementar iconografía alusiva al manejo de RPBI y colocarla en sitios estratégicos, principalmente en los servicios donde se realiza una mayor generación de este tipo de residuos.

Abstract With the realization of this work the generation of RPBI was determined, within the General Hospital of Zone No.5 in the municipality of Zacatepec, Morelos; as well as, compliance with NOM-087-SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002. Although there are regulations regarding RPBI, the Norm in question may not be applied correctly; therefore, it was determined to evaluate the knowledge of the personnel involved in the different stages of the internal management of RPBI, with the purpose of proposing strategies that allow to make efficient its application in the waste management plan, in said institution. On-site tours were conducted in order to verify compliance with NOM-087-SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002, in each of the areas of the hospital and for each stage of the internal management of RPBI (classification, collection, internal transport and storage. temporary); On the other hand, RPBI delivery-reception manifests were requested, which provide us with the generation volume from 2011 to 2018. Likewise, a survey was applied that allowed us to explore the knowledge that staff have regarding the concept, classification and handling of RPBI. The General Hospital of Zone No.5 does not adequately implement the fulfillment of NOM-087-SEMARNAT-SSA1-2002. According to the volume of RPBI generated per month; the General Hospital of Zone No.5 is a level III generator. With the application of the survey, a high degree of knowledge of this norm could be observed by the personnel; However, the practices are deficient in the handling of this type of waste, this implies that the Institution has the need to improve the education and training programs, in the same way, it is necessary to regularly supervise the proper management of the waste. It is proposed to implement iconography alluding to the handling of RPBI and place it in strategic sites, mainly in services where a greater generation of this type of waste is carried out.
