dc.description | Resumen.
| es_MX |
dc.description | Abstract.
In this research work, an energy-saving technology is presented that allows to
carry out the sintering at low temperature in the production of structural
ceramics (bricks), obtained from clay mixtures with high silica content, with the
addition of sand and glass waste with a low melting point. The mixtures made
for the production of bricks were with different percentages by weight of binary
samples (clay-sand) and (clay-glass). Likewise, ternary mixtures of clay-sandglass
were made. From these mixtures, it possible to perform the plastic
molding of the by-products due to the presence of montmorillonite in clay and
sand, sintering of bricks was carried out at 800 ° C for 8 hours in an air and
argon atmosphere. The raw materials for the manufacturing of structural
ceramics that were used in this work come from the clay deposits of the town
of Changata and the sand from the Balsas river deposits and their tributaries
in the town of Villa Nicolas Bravo, these localities belong to the municipality of
Ajuchitlan del Progreso in the Guerrero state, Mexico.
Using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier
Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) with total attenuated reflection
(ATR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with X-ray microanalysis by
the energy dispersion spectrometer (EDX), it has been shown that the
synthesized material in an air and argon atmosphere contain quartz, feldspar
and vitreous phase, i.e., glass ceramics has been formed. In the case of the
synthesized material in an argon atmosphere, light grey to black grey ceramics
of high porosity were obtained, according to the results in the mechanical tests
ceramics were obtained with high compressive and flexural strength
approaching the properties of foam glass. The bricks product of sintering in an
air atmosphere presented in this work, the results of flexural and compression
strength were compared with the studies carried out on the mechanical
properties of the bricks in the Guerrero state, the Mexican standard NMX-C-
404-ONNCCE and the standard of the American Society for Testing and
IV
Materials (ASTM C773 and ASTM C1161). For the bricks produced by sintering
in an argon atmosphere, the results of flexural and compression strength were
compared with the mechanical test studies carried out in the Guerrero state,
this type of ceramics product of sintering in an argon atmosphere, does not
exist studies and Mexican standard for the strength properties of bricks at Tsint.
= 800 °C for tsint. = 8 h.
The basis of low-temperature sintering is the formation of a low-temperature
eutectic between the molten glass, feldspars, and silica. It has been
established that the density, porosity, water absorption, and mechanical
properties of ceramics depend on the ratio of the components in the initial
mixtures. The developed technology has made it possible to synthesize highquality
building bricks from high-siliceous clays under low-temperature
sintering conditions. This technology can be attributed to saving-energy and
the decisive task on large scale waste recycling. Taking into account that,
nowadays, the problems of energy-saving and rational nature management are
of vital importance for economy throughout the world. | es_MX |
